The workshop on developing sustainable government bond markets, jointly organized by Office of Regional Economic Integration of the Asian Development Bank and the Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Center was held at the Shanghai National Accounting Institute from August 15th to August 18th, 2011.

Over 50 government officials and regulators from ASEAN+3 countries and officials from ASEAN Secretariat and representatives of financial institutions joined the 4-day workshop. The training focused on developing liquid government bond markets in Asia and examined public debt sustainability and related development issues.

The speakers of the workshop came from a variety of international organizations and government agencies, including the International Monetary Fund, the Asian Development Bank, Standard & Poor’s, J.P. Morgan, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Japan Ministry of Finance, and so on.
