　　近期，我院2015级留学生刚刚结束硕士论文中期考核。来自格林纳达的官员TISHA MARTHA MATTHEWS在寒假探亲回国前写了一封热情洋溢的感谢信给李扣庆院长。自2015年9月以来，她已经离开远在半个地球外的加勒比海家园一年有余，明日就即将返程归国，非常激动，感慨良多。以下为原文：

Dear President Li:

Pleasant morning to you Sir. Trust that all is well with you and your family. I am not sure if it is unprofessional or not proper protocol for a student to email the President of an institution.  If it is Sir, my deepest apologies.  Please permit me to say a few words of thanks as an ordinary international graduate student of SNAI.

Firstly, a heartfelt thank you for being a member of the panelist for the interim assessment of our masterthesis.  It was a great honour for you to take the time off from your busy schedule to be with us.  I appreciate your feedback and will try my best to write a good paper with the guidance of my Supervisor and the support of all other faculty and staff of SNAI. 

Last night after the presentation, I could not have helped but expressed a few words to my colleagues not just about your great leadership but your modesty is overwhelming.  Ever since I have started to study here and got the opportunity to know you more as you taught us; I have learnt a lot and I truly admire your simplicity as a leader. Truthfully, in the initial stages, I could recall seeing you walking around the campus at times or even having lunch or dinner in the dining hall and I was like “really? President Li in Dining Hall 1 for students.”  Actually, I was stunned because very rare I see these things happening in my short time thus far on earth.  You are one in a million. I applaud you for being such a ‘down to earth’ person (as we say in our language).

You have been an exemplary and visionary not just Professor when you taught us Strategic Management or President of this noble institution but you were also a great mentor to us.  You have passed on your knowledge of which we are truly grateful and you were always eager to share your experiences or challenges with us. Evenwhen you asked questions and our response may not be keeping with your question, you never made us feel uncomfortable or gave the expression like ‘that is a stupid response’. You have consistently maintained your noble stance of adding smiles to faces while providing us with the correct answers. I really appreciate and treasure everything you have taught me. According to John Maxwell, "Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flow charts. It isabout one life influencing another."

You are a very influential and inspirational leader.  You pass on such strength to others, which empowers us to be able to stand on our own. Thanks for allowing us to understand the true meaning of leadership.  We are truly honoured and grateful for your leadership and dedication combined with your staff’s teamwork, support,energy and efforts.
