AFDI holds the Workshop on Special Economic Zones and Economic Corridor Development for South Asian countries
Recently, AFDI in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) held the Workshop on Special Economic Zones and Economic Corridor Development at SNAI targeting the participants from South Asian countries. President Li Kouqing and Director General of South Asia Department of the ADB Hun Kim jointly opened the workshop and delivered opening remarks respectively. About 30 participants from India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka as well as senior officials from ADB’s South Asia Department participated in the workshop to learn the Chinese experience of developing SEZs and to explore the development pathways for SEZs in South Asia.

SNAI conducts a training workshop to support poverty alleviation in Bama, Guangxi
A training workshop on finance and securities which was sponsored by SNAI and Huajin Securities and organized by the Party school of Bama County was held in Bama, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently. SNAI Assistant President Yi Hongxun together with several faculty representatives went to Bama to teach the course sessions. It aims to contribute to China’s poverty alleviation cause by way of intellectual poverty reduction while making full use of SNAI’s talent resources.

SNAI holds the 1st Shanghai Top Accounting Professionals Innovation Forum
To keep abreast with the new developments in new technology and new economy and to facilitate the transformation and upgrading of accounting talents, SNAI in cooperation with the Shanghai Municipal Finance Bureau held the first Shanghai Top Accounting Professionals Innovation Forum recently. The forum, centering on the new trends of transformation and development in accounting in the digital era, combining both keynote speeches and roundtable dialogues, facilitated the knowledge exchange and experience sharing among participants from different industries.

SNAI holds the Seminar on “Blockchain: Logic of Application and Development Trend”
Recently, a Seminar on “Blockchain: Logic of Application and Development Trend” was jointly held by SNAI and CPA Australia. Mr. Feng Zhe, member of CPA Australia and Associate Professor Wu Zhongsheng of SNAI served as the main speakers of the seminar. They introduced the blockchain technology and its future prospects as well as the application of AI in finance to over 100 participants at the seminar. 

 
SNAI/AFDI holds the workshop on IFRS
From July 2-6, the Workshop on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) jointly organized by Asian-Oceanian Standard-Setters Group (AOSSG), the Accounting Department of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) of China, International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), and Shanghai National Accounting Institute was held at SNAI. Mr. Zhu Guangyao, President of the Accounting Society of China attended the opening session and delivered opening remarks on behalf of the organizers. President Li Kouqing chaired the opening session. About 30 delegates including Mr. Siphandone Athsaphangthong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance of Laos, Mr. Narendra Bhattarai, Chairman of the Accounting Standards Board of Nepal, and Mr. Seng Tola, Deputy Secretary General of National Accounting Council attended the workshop.

Results of “Top 10 IT with Influence on Accounting Practitioners in China 2018” released
On July 7, the 17th National Accounting Information Technology Annual Meeting of the Accounting Society of China (ASC) was held in Beijing. Vice President Liu Qin who is also the chairman of the Special Committee on Accounting Information Technology of the ASC released the survey results of top 10 IT that has an influence on accounting practitioners in China at the meeting. The survey was conducted by SNAI, aiming to help Chinese accounting practitioners better cope with the challenges brought by information technology and to embrace new technology with a positive mind.

SNAI holds an Executive Forum on New Economy and New Era
On July 7, the EMBA Executive Forum co-organized by SNAI and the Arizona State University was held at SNAI. The forum, theming New Economy and New Era, centered on innovation and deepening reform in Sci-Tech systems. Several experts were invited to share their insights on hot topics including the chip industry of China, data intelligence, among others.

AFDI holds the 2nd Webinar of 2018 AFDI-GDLN Global Mobile Learning Program on E-commerce and International Trade
On July 5, the 2nd Webinar of 2018 AFDI-GDLN Global Mobile Learning Program on E-commerce and International Trade, which was entitled the Payment System of E-commerce, was conducted via the AFDI Global Learning Community WeChat Group and live streaming platform. About 350 participants from 37 countries, including China, Australia, Korea, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Jamaica, etc attended the online learning and knowledge sharing event.

SNAI holds the 5th Academician Lecture
On July 9, the fifth Academician Lecture was held at SNAI. Dr. Sun Cong, Academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering who is also an expert on flight vehicle design, was invited to share with SNAI students and trainees the development of fighter aircraft driven by technological advance.

SNAI holds the workshop on New Business Development for CICPA in Qinghai Province
On July 9, the workshop on New Business Development, which was hosted by SNAI under CICPA’s initiative to support educational programs in China’s western provinces of Qinghai and Ganshu, was held in Xining City, Qinghai Province. Zhang Shanming, Deputy Director General of Qinghai Provincial Finance Department, Bai Xiaohong, Director of the Department of Continuing Education of the China Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Over 260 CPAs from Qinghai and Ganshu Provinces attended the workshop.

SNAI establishes a research team on “accelerating the construction of an internationally recognized accounting institute”
To implement Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance Cheng Lihua’s instructions given during her inspection visit to SNAI and to accelerate the pace of building SNAI into an internationally recognized accounting institute, SNAI recently established a research team with President Li Kouqing the team leader to conduct in-depth research on the indicator system and practical measures of building SNAI into an internationally recognized accounting institute.

2018 Shanghai Postgraduate Summer School on New Developments in IFRSs opens at SNAI
On July 17, the 2018 Shanghai Postgraduate Summer School on New Developments in IFRSs was opened at SNAI. Liu Qin, Vice President of SNAI and President of the Summer School and Zheng Deyuan, Director of the Department of Postgraduate Education at SNAI and Vice President of the Summer School attended the opening ceremony. Over 90 postgraduates from various universities in China attended the event.

SNAI holds 2018 National Outstanding College Students Summer Camp
On July 16, the 2018 National Outstanding College Students’ Summer Camp was successfully concluded at SNAI. SNAI published a list of outstanding participants based on the comprehensive appraisal of campers’ performance during the summer camp. These students would have an opportunity to be included in the candidate pool of SNAI’s master programs with postgraduate entrance examination exemption in 2019.

SNAI organizes 2018 international students admission qualification review meeting
On July 16, SNAI held the admission qualification review meeting for 2018 international students applying for the MPAcc program for developing countries at SNAI/AFDI. By the time when the meeting was held, a total of 42 recommendation letters had been received from the Chinese embassies in other countries. After strict screening and appraisal in terms of applicant’s employment history, English proficiency, and academic background, 25 applicants finally passed the review.

Secretary of the Party Committee Zhu Wenbin of China Capital Market Institute visits SNAI
On July 25, a delegation led by Zhu Wenbin, Secretary of the Party Committee of China Capital Market Institute paid a visit to SNAI. Vice President Liu Qin met with the delegation. Both parties held in-depth exchange on the training business development, institute construction, and faculty and staff management.

SNAI/AFDI attends the 4th distance learning session of KDI's blended training 2018
On July 26, SNAI/AFDI attended the 4th distance learning session of the blended training of the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management in 2018. The session’s topic is "South Korea's new administrative city - Sejong". A total of 163 participants from 11 countries, including some faculty members of SNAI, attended the session.

SNAI, Huifu co-builds field study site
On July 24, Liu Qin, Vice President of SNAI and President of the Shanghai Summer School on New Developments in IFRSs for Postgraduates went to Huifu, a third-party payment service provider in China, to unveil the nameplate of SNAI Field Study Site there. Huifu’s CFO Jin Yuan was present at the ceremony. 90 postgraduates of the summer school attended the event and then listened to a thematic lecture on new finance and new technology.

SNAI, ICAEW signs teaching film copyright agreement
Recently, SNAI and ICAEW signed a copyright agreement on introducing two films for teaching from ICAEW, i.e. Pitfalls in Auditing, and Going IPO. President Li Kouqing and Duncan Wiggetts, ICAEW Executive Director for Professional Standards as well as its film producer, jointly moderated the signing ceremony and then held talks on carrying out all-round cooperation in the future.

Thematic Event on Providing Voluntary Services for CIIE held at SNAI
On July 27, a thematic event on providing voluntary services for China International Import Expo (CIIE), and the oath-taking ceremony of the smiling four-leaf clover volunteers team, hosted by the Commission for Guiding Cultural and Ethical Progress of Xujing Town and Qingpu District, was held at SNAI. 2017 international student Doranga Pradeep spoke on behalf of all the volunteers at the event.
