On May 5th, American Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) officially announced seven institutes, which they recognize for IMA’s Higher Education Endorsement Program. The seven institutes are: Shanghai Jiaotong University, Xiamen University, Zhongshan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Shanghai National Accounting Institute and Beijing Normal University
IMA Higher Education Endorsement Program is the only international recognition in the field of Accounting and Management Education. Before institutes receive IMA designation, it must obtain AACSB/EQUIS/AMBA/IMAESC recognition as pre-requisite. IMA designation assesses institutes’ Advanced Accounting and Financial Management academic aptitude based on four categories – Financial Strategy, Analysis, Controlling and Decision-making. Each category is necessary and indispensible for students to master in the current business environment.
In recent years, IMA designated schools has formed an international network of management accounting education. The network includes internationally prestigious schools among the names of Brigham Young University, University of Michigan, Singapore Management University, NanyangTechnological University, European Business School, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. In China, the network includes Peking University,Central University of Finance and Economics, Jinan University, South China University of Technology and the seven recently recognized schools, summing up to 13 schools.
IMA’s recognition reveals SNAI’s excellent system in teaching Management Accounting, its reputable faculty, its ability to attract academic staff, its complete textbook and academic resources as well as its academic feedback system. Along with the progress of domestic economic restructuring, SNAI strives to train more and more international management accounting experts and foster the improvement in China’s Management Accounting Education.
