Rebecca Younger McGill, SNAI alumna of class of 2017 appointed as Deputy Minister for Administration of Liberia's Ministry of Finance and Planning

InMarch 2018, we received exciting news about our graduate student RebeccaYounger McGill. Rebecca was appointed as Deputy Minister for Administration of Liberia's Ministry of Finance and Planning by newly elected President George Weah.

 

Ms.Rebecca Younger McGill graduated from Liberia University. In September 2015,she furthered her study in SNAI and become the class coordinator of her class,the first-ever class of international students of SNAI. During the two years in her study, she worked diligently and showed leadership as well as care for herfellow students. As the pivot of class activities, she took initiatives in student activities and built a positive character.

 

Asidefrom the curriculum, Ms. McGill paid special attention to China's national enterprise reforms and social-economic governance and showed her deep reflection on the subject of social developments and entrepreneurship. According to McGill, "I am of greatest conviction that Liberia will over pass her dark days by reformulating a nation strategic plan that will tickle poor governance and drastically fight corruption and direct resources in the areas of standard education, health, agriculture, roads, electricity, water and sanity among others. I also believe that to achieve this will require enormous amount of financial and human resources which Liberia will rely heavily on the good will of the international community and friends like the People’s Republic of China.

 

Ms.McGill wishes to implement her knowledge in China's development from hereducation in Shanghai to contribute to the developments in her own country. As she has expressed emotionally at her graduation, “ If you educate a woman, you build a nation. I am excited today and remain grateful to SNAI family and promise to uphold the Justice Pillar forever in my endeavor.”
