The Asian Evaluation Week(AEW), jointly sponsored bythe Ministry of Finance, PRC, the Asian Development Bank as well as AFDI kickedoff in Xi’an on September 5, attracting about 180 M&E officials as well asexperts from Asia, Africa, Latin-America as well as multilateral organizations.Mr. Zhang zhengwei, deputy director of Ministry of Finance, PRC, Dr. Likouqing, director general of AFDI as well as Mr. Walter Kolkma, director of ADBgave opening remarks .

The AEW was organized in the Asia -Pacific region inresponse to the growing attention on the use of evaluation for better resultsand accountability, It provided a venue for knowledge sharing on the latest andcutting edge ideas on evaluation

It was expected to be an event in bringing togetherevaluation colleagues to discuss the recent trends in evaluation thinking.

AEW is the first such event that has been held inAsia, allowing the exchange and synthesis of ideas on the latest andpracticable thinking on evaluation.
