On May 3, SNAI and Deloitte China signed a MOU for comprehensive and in-depth cooperation to form a strategic partnership between the two organizations. President Li Kouqing and the managing partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu East China Liu Minghua signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of the two sides. Vice President Liu Qin and staff from the Graduate Department, the Teaching and Research Department and the Promotion and Development Department attended the signing ceremony. The two sides will carry out close cooperation in research, curriculum development, high-level talents training, joint development of flagship educational products, and professional events and activities.

SNAI faculty publishes academic paper in the Journal of Banking and Finance (SSCI)
Professor Li Yingqi of the Teaching and Research Department of SNAI published an academic paper entitled "Helping hands or grabbing hands? An analysis of political connections and firm value" in the SSCI Journal of Banking and Finance, Vol. 80 (March 2017). A unique political connection index is created in this paper to capture variations in the strength of firm political relations in China.
The Journal of Banking and Finance (JBF), published by Elsevier Press, is dedicated to publishing theoretical and empirical research papers spanning all the major research fields in finance and banking, and is recognized as a high-quality journal in the academic field of finance.
Yunnan’s first Leading Accounting Talents Program in the CPA sector held at SNAI
On May 4, Yunnan Province’s first Leading Accounting Talents Program (LATP) for the certified public accountants sector was opened at SNAI. 40 trainees from 19 CPA firms, admitted to the Program after qualification review, written examination and interview, will start their three-year systematic study at SNAI.
This program is the six provincial LATP for the CPA sector conducted by SNAI following similar programs conducted for Shanghai, Guangxi, Shandong, Jiangxi, Shanxi and Henan.
SNAI launches "Reading for Public Good" event among Alumni
To celebrate the World Reading Day, and to put to practice the lifelong learning philosophy advocated by SNAI, recently, SNAI, in cooperation with the Deloitte Foundation, jointly organized an event entitled "You Read, I Donate - Reading for the Public Good by SNAI Alumni." By posting a checklist of books alumni read in WeChat moments, the books will be purchased and donated to children in poverty-stricken regions. Within a week, 507 books have been donated.

SNAI wins again the bidding for the MOF Research Project on Management Accounting
On May 5, the research team led by associate professor Tong Chengsheng from the Teaching and Research Department of SNAI won the bidding for a research on the Application of Amoeba Business Model in the "2017 Ministry of Finance Research Project on Management Accounting."
SNAI EMBA study tour to United States completed
From April 30 to May 8, the 13th cohort of the EMBA program participants went to the United States for a one-week study tour as per the requirements set in the curriculum design of the Program offered by SNAI in cooperation with the Arizona State University of the U.S.
The participants visited the New York Stock Exchange, Carey Group, and other world famous financial institutions and enterprises in New York and the Phoenix city, listened to reports made by well-known experts, acquired intuitive sense of global markets, and experienced in person the similarities and differences between different cultures in east and west.

2nd training program for reserve leading talents in economic management for NHFPC budget units opens at SNAI
On May 11, the second training program for reserve leading talents in economic management conducted for the budget units of National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC) was opened at SNAI. This is the second program following the first program in 2016.
Vice Inspector Wang Mingxia of NHFPC and Vice President Lu Wenbin of SNAI attended the opening ceremony. 50 participants from the NHFPC's budget units are admitted to the program after rigorous screening by both written exam and interview. They will start their two-year systematic training at SNAI.

President Li Kouqing attends Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation: Thematic Session on Think Tank Exchanges
On May 14, President Li Kouqing attended the Thematic Session on Think Tank Exchange of the Belt and Road (B&R) Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. Li joined the session together with over 200 experts and scholars from more than 40 countries and regions to exchange opinions on further strengthening the B&R research, providing intellectual support to countries involved in the B&R initiative, and building think tank alliance and cooperation network.
SNAI attends the kickoff meeting of MOF Research Project on Management Accounting
On May 15, Associate Professor Tong Chengsheng, on behalf of the SNAI research project team, attended the signing ceremony and the kickoff meeting of the "2017 Special Research Project on Management Accounting of the Ministry of Finance" in Beijing. The Deputy Director-General of Accounting Department of MOF attended the meeting and delivered an important speech. Tong Chengsheng remarked that SNAI project team will kick off the research and strive to complete the "Amoeba Business Model Application Research" with high quality.
SNAI DLC launches Global Mobile Knowledge Sharing Program on "Financial Globalization: Openness, Connectivity and Innovation"
The first webinar on "Openness and Capital Flow" under the "Financial Globalization: Openness, Connectivity and Innovation" was held in the AFDI Global Learning Community on May 18. About 228 participants from 20 countries, including China, the United States, Australia, Venezuela and Tanzania, attended the webinar.
President Li Kouqing delivered opening remarks, and Dr. Ni Jianming conducted online teaching and real-time interaction with participants at the webinar. The webinar series, with the second scheduled in July and the third in September, is a successful attempt by SNAI Distance Learning Center to explore a new model of global learning and mobile knowledge sharing.


2017 Forum on Integration and Development of Big Data and Smart Education held at SNAI
On May 19, the 2017 Forum on Integration and Development of Big Data and Smart Education, sponsored by the Modern Management Research Center and the Internet Industry Research Institute of Tsinghua University, was held at SNAI. Assistant President Yi Hongxun attended the opening ceremony and delivered opening remarks.
The forum gathered experts and scholars from prominent research institutions and universities on information technology and enterprises specialized in scientific and technological innovation. The exchanges and discussions centered on the application of innovative technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing and blockchain in higher education, among other hot issues.
CPA Australia COO Jeff Hughes visits SNAI
On May 17, Jeff Hughes, Chief Operating Officer of CPA Australia, and Liang Huanqin, General Manager of CPA Australia Greater China Region, visited SNAI. President Li met with the guests.
The two sides signed a memorandum of cooperation on accounting talents training and faculty exchange. Mr. Jeff Hughes was also invited to give a lecture on "Overview of accounting profession and career development of CPAs in Australia" for SNAI international students during this visit.
SNAI and ACCA jointly holds the 2017 Annual Summit
The 2017 ACCA-SNAI Annual Summit entitled "New Business Models - Evolutionism of Finance Talents" was held in Shanghai on May 24. President Li Kouqing attended the summit and delivered a keynote speech.
The summit attracted almost 500 financial executives and business leaders. Focusing on topics closely related to the future of the financial sector, the summit tried to explore the opportunities and challenges facing the financial sector in the new business environment.

Master thesis defense in 1st half of 2017 successfully held
On May 20, SNAI held graduate thesis defense for the first half of 2017. A total of 103 graduate students successfully passed the thesis defense. The SNAI Academic Degrees Evaluation Committee will review these students' application for Master's Degree on June 13.
